Former Caretaker Pleads Not Guilty to Manslaughter Charges

Annie Kwankam, a former caretaker at a Milton group home, appeared in Norfolk Superior Court on Thursday.

A woman facing manslaughter charges related to a 2009 incident in Milton pled not guilty in Norfolk Superior Court on Thursday.

Annie Kwankam, formerly of Brockton, was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama, in September on a warrant for Manslaughter and Permitting Serious Bodily Injury to a disabled person by a Caretaker.

On September 7, 2009, Kwankam was employed by Vinfen Corporation, which operates a group home on Kahler Avenue in Milton. According to the indictment from the Norfolk County District Attorney, Kwankam, a “Residential Counselor II” at the facility, failed to provide necessary assistance to resident Lauren Wolf, when she was choking on a piece of steak.
