Milton Unemployment Numbers Drop at Above Average Rate

Following a statewide trend, the Town of Milton reported a decrease in unemployment last month according to the latest numbers from the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

In late September, the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development announced the unemployment rate dropped from 9.1 percent in July to 8.3 percent statewide.

The decrease was good news across the state, as all 22 of the state's labor markets reported a drop. Among the most notable decreases was the Town of Milton, which went from 8.2 percent unemployment in July to 6.9 percent in August.

Looking back to August 2009, Milton is improving. The unemployment rate a year ago was 7.8 percent.
