One Killed, Two Hospitalized After Serious Milton Crash

Police are investigating what caused a crash between a truck and car Tuesday night that left a Milton 56-year-old man dead.

MILTON, MA — A crash in Milton Tuesday night between a truck and a car has left one person dead, police said Wednesday.

Michael McGrath, age 56 of Milton, was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, police said Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to the scene of the crash on Blue Hill Avenue near Robin Street around 6:08 p.m. to find a black pickup truck had collided with a white sedan close to Curry College.

The three people in both vehicles had to be removed using three separate pieces of extrication equipment, the Milton Fire Department said.

All three people were taken to a nearby hospital, with two suffering from serious injuries, the Milton Fire Department said Tuesday night. According to WHDH, one of the victims was a teenager.

The other vehicle involved was an Infiniti Q50 operated by Manuel Afonseca, 40, of Boston. He remains in critical condition at Boston Medical Center, police say.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Milton police and the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.
