Melvin J. Ryan

Melvin J. Mel Ryan, 71, a resident of Framingham, died Dec. 8, 2010, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.

Born in Boston, the son of the late John T. & Gertrude (McQuaid) Ryan, Mr. Ryan was raised in Hyde Park & a graduate of Hyde Park High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1959 -1961. Mr. Ryan was employed by General Motors in Framingham first as a Line Feeder & then as a Booth Cleaner prior to his retirement in 1989. After retiring, he drove a bus for special needs children attending Keefe Tech for 15 years.

A sports enthusiast, Mr. Ryan truly enjoyed supporting the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots & golf. He found great pleasure in watching his 42 HD Surround Sound T.V. with his late brother-in-law John. He was also a loving caregiver to his mother-in-law Rita & brother-in-law John.

Mr. Ryan was the loving husband of Linda (Marso) Ryan; step-father of Robert J. McHugh of Framingham; brother-in-law of Jean & Roger Bachelder of Franklin, Rita & Dave Martin of Natick, Bob & Karen Marso of Natick, & the late John Marso. He is also survived by many dear nieces & nephews. He was the brother of Kathy Cunning & her husband George, Jack Ryan, & Richard Ryan all of California; the father of Mark Ryan & his wife Karen of Tyngsboro; & grandfather of Shannon & Mackenzie.

His funeral was held Saturday, Dec. 11, in the Chapel of the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home.
