Drug Dog Searches Natick High School

The Boston Globe is reporting that a drug-sniffing dog searched the common areas and parking lots at Natick High School yesterday, finding illegal drugs in two student vehicles.

The search was conducted by trained law enforcement dog handlers and supervised by the Natick Police Department. It last 30 minutes and during that time students stayed in the classrooms while teachers continued their lessons.

Natick High School principal Rose Bertucci told the Globe that she felt it was a good sign that the dogs only alerted twice when there are 1,400 students.

Natick school administrators sent home a letter in November letting parents know that they intended to use drug dogs to promote a "drug-free environment."
