Evans Tops Ticket In Natick Select Board Race

NATICK, MA - Natick elected two new members to the Select Board Tuesday, Bruce Evans and Kathryn Coughlin, in a three-person race.

Longtime Select Board members Sue Salamoff and Richard Jennett did not seek reelection this year, creating a unique opportunity for Natick to elect two new members simultaneously.

Evans bested Coughlin by 175 votes, garnering 2,064 of the 3,276 ballots cast, equaling 38.11%. Coughlin earned 1,889 votes, or 34.88%. Cody Jacobs came in third and failed to win a seat, receiving 1,446 votes, or 26.7%.

Unofficial town result show that 13.63% of registered voters turned out for the spring election.

In other election news, voters overwhelmingly approved a charter amendment concerning how members of the Natick Housing Authority are elected by a nearly 94.5% margin. The amendment, which was proposed at the Natick 2021 Fall Annual Town Meeting, stated that there should be five members serving for five-year terms and elected in a staggered fashion so that one member's term shall expire each year. The vote was 2,799-164.
