Gay Couple's Rainbow Flag Stolen, House Egged; Neighbors Respond With Heartfelt Gesture

A Natick couple had their flag stolen and house egged while away, but now 40 neighbors have flags up in a show of support.

NATICK, MA—Cari and Lauri Ryding came home last week from vacation to find that their rainbow Peace flag was stolen from the front of their house, and the home had also been egged.

Understandably concerned and shaken from the malicious act, they reached out to their neighbors to see if anyone had seen anything, Cari wrote on her Facebook page. While they didn't find who did it, since asking the neighbors about it, those neighbors responded with a beautiful message each by hanging their own flags.

"I have known for 23 years of living here how amazing these people are," wrote Cari on Aug. 21, "but today if you drive around our Natick neighborhood, you will see 40 flags hanging in solidarity for the message of equality, diversity and human connection. Everyone has come to support us and what we stand for- and renewed our faith in the human capacity to love and heal. We are deeply grateful."
