Natick Could Expand Downtown Parking

A bill passed yesterday that will allow Natick to lease land in the downtown area.

Legislators signed into a law yesterday a bill that will allow Natick to lease two plots of land in the downtown area in order to expand parking access there.

“This is great news for the town and its residents. Downtown Natick has become a vibrant area with a first class entertainment venue, art galleries, fine dining and shopping,” State Rep. David Linsky said in a State House press release.  “With the continued development of Natick Center, additional parking is needed to keep up with the demand. Giving Natick the ability to lease these properties will give the town options for the future development of Natick Center.”

With passage of the bill, the town can lease land at 20 Middlesex Ave. and 27 South Ave. The town is considering building a parking garage or developing those areas into parking lots as development of the downtown area continues, the release said.
