NATICK, MA — The town's latest Fiscal Year 2026 budget override meeting is slated for Monday, bringing together three boards for a discussion.

Monday's meeting is a joint session with the Select Board, School Committee and Finance Committee. The budget proposal will be presented at the 6 p.m. meeting, taking place in the School Committee Room on the third floor of Town Hall, 13 East Central St.

Natick is pursuing the override due to "expenses exceeding revenues in recent years." The budget has a benchmark coming this month, with the Select Board slated to give initial approval on Feb. 18 before voters get the chance to approve or decline during the Spring election on March 25.

Public meetings have been ongoing since October 2024, with an additional public forum slated for Feb. 11.

Officials with the town and school district are hopeful the override can pass, as a no vote would mean reductions in staff, curriculum and professional development and an increase in service fees.

In addition to fewer staff — and potentially fewer class offerings, including advanced placement cuts — a no vote could mean prices could increase for students who want to participate in athletics and those who need transportation to and from school.
