Natick Police Responded To Dover Standoff

A man barricaded himself inside a Dover home, which led to a multi-hour standoff that brought additional police to the town.

NATICK, MA — Members of the Natick Police Department were among those in Dover on Friday after a man barricaded himself inside a home there, prompting a multi-hour standoff.

Dover police said they responded to a Claybrook Road home for what they called an "unwanted person" around 11 a.m.

"Upon arrival, our officers encountered a male subject armed with a knife, retreated and attempted to deescalate the situation. The subject barricaded himself in the house and mutual aid resources were requested," police said.

Officials from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, as well as police from Natick, Needham, Westwood and Medfield responded to the scene.

By 3 p.m., one person was taken into custody. No injuries were reported during the standoff or after the arrest.
