Natick Public Schools Asks Parents to Take Online Survey

Here are 5 things to know today in Natick.

1. Superintendent Peter Sanchioni is asking parents in the Natick Public Schools systemΒ to take a few moments to complete the attached survey, which will provide data on three key issues we are taking up as part of our goals this year.Β  They are:
  • 2014- 2015 School Calendar - the School Committee wishes to understand your thoughts potential changes to the calendar.
  • The School Committee and Superintendent are also investigating rescheduling the start times of the high school to a later time and the elementary schools to an earlier start time.Β  The rationale is that teens may educationally benefit from a later wake up time.
  • The School Committee and Superintendent are interested in your thoughts regarding the use of technology in the district and sustaining our current 1:1 initiative.

The questions in the survey are designed to elicit your thoughts and opinions.Β  Your input will be one of the main determinants in helping the School Committee and Superintendent make decisions that will have an impact on future district policies and procedures.

All data will be collated and presented at an upcoming School Committee meeting and will be vigorously weighed before any final decisions are made.Β  As always the public is always allowed to offer input at any School Committee meeting. The meeting on Nov. 18Β will discuss next years school calendar.Β 

2.Β Support your child and Johnson School by purchasing your child's art through square one art. Square one art Orders are due this week. Paper orders were dueΒ byΒ Nov. 13Β (and were be mailed that day). Β Online orders can be made up untilΒ Nov. 15Β which gives you one more week to raise some money for the school. No orders will be accepted after the deadline.Β

3. All parents are invited to join Tim Luff, Director of Student Services, and his staff for coffee and conversation on Nov. 22 from 8-:8:45 a.m. in the Wilson School cafeteria.Β This is an opportunity for parents to meet in a relaxed setting to learn more about Student Services, to share information, ideas, and to make suggestions. The staff will be able to share information about happenings in the district as well as goals forΒ 

Parents with concerns specific to their own student(s) are encouraged to contact their teachers or school staff for more personal discussions.

The December Coffee will be heldΒ Dec. 20 atΒ Brown School.
