Natick Reading Program Gets $6,000 Boost

A grant will support a reading program at the Bacon Free Library in Natick.

A program designed to enhance the Bacon Free Library's children's collections received a $5,885 grant from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation recently.

“We extend a huge thank you to the MutualOne Charitable Foundation for helping the Library empower its youngest patrons — along with their parents and grandparents — so that put the Ready to Read program in place,” said John A. Brisbin (left), Bacon Free Library director.

The money will support the “Natick Kids Ready to Read, Bacon Free Library Ready for Readers” project. It will go towards purchasing materials in line with the American Library Association’s Every Child Ready to Read initiative as well as books and other learning materials for the Library’s children’s collections.

“More than one-third of all American children entering school are not ready to learn to read,” said Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the Mutual One Charitable Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to help boost the reading readiness rate of youngsters in our community by helping the Bacon Free Library put the Ready to Read program in place.”
