Natick Rescinds Parking Tickets from Food Truck Festival Day
15 citations issued to Lincoln Street residents will be voided.
A public complaint made during a recent Natick Board of Selectmen meeting regarding unfair parking tickets was heard by the Natick Police Department with positive results.
According to Selectman Vice Chair Joshua Ostroff, the police department has decided to void the 15 parking tickets that were issued to Lincoln Street residents on Sept. 8 during the Food Truck Festival.
Kathy Sorabella, who lives on Lincoln Street, complained that she and her neighbors never received ample noticed about the parking restrictions.
"In the morning and within two hours (of the event), cars parked there all got parking tickets," she told the Selectmen. "There was no advance notice. I was shocked to see all the tickets. My only concern is if I reregister and there’s a lien for a $20 parking ticket ... I didn’t know this festival was coming. I have a serious illness (and it's difficult) checking with the paper every day."
Sorabella said she has terminal cancer and it's difficult for her to read the news on a daily basis.

According to Sorabella, residents have always been allowed to park on Lincoln Street no matter what events are happening in the downtown area.
"We’ve been through many, many events, and this never happened before," she said.
The next big event coming to Natick is this weekend when the annual Natick Days celebration kicks off on Sept. 21 on the Natick Common from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
