Natick Scientists Strengthen U.S. Ties With Middle East

Natick will be working with partners in the Middle East thanks to Israli entrepreneur Tuvia Sofinzon who recently received a grant to collaborate with Natick-based SBH Sciences, according to the Worcester Business Journal. 

The team hopes to develop a new blood test to gauge the immune system health of those who suffer from chronic inflammation. 

"It's a test that could have important implications for patients with diabetes and cancer, diseases often made worse by the presence of chronic inflammation," the article said. 

Sofinzon was discovered by Massachusetts' Governor, Deval Patrick, on his diplomatic trip to Israel last year.

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center granted SBH $184,000 for the project and Israel's office of the chief scientist granted $204,000 to Improdia, Sofinzon's new start-up company.
