1. The Helen Diller Family Foundation recently awarded 10 teenagers from across the nation with the 2013 Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award in recognition of their leadership, innovation and commitment to making the world a better place. Recipients were honored with a celebratory luncheon at San Francisco’s Julia Morgan Ballroom, where each teen was awarded $36,000 in support of their philanthropic vision or to further educational pursuits.
Among them was Max Wallack, 17, of Natick, who created PuzzlesToRemember, a nonprofit that designs, collects and distributes puzzles to serve as therapeutic tools for those living with Alzheimer’s. Max published a book for caregivers and, to date, has supported the distribution of more than 23,000 puzzles to 2,000 nursing facilities around the world.
2. The 2013-2014 skating season has begun at William L. Chase Arena. Fall I classes begin the week of Sept. 9. Registration is available at www.fmcicesports.com.

Patrons may pay their overdue fines for Minuteman Library Network books and materials with new, non-perishable food or personal care items.
