Natick WWII Veteran Honored By Boston Celtics

BOSTON, MA — A World War II veteran from Natick was honored at the Celtics game on Friday, Nov. 16, at the Garden. Sgt. Henry Baggs not only served honorably in the war, but came home and continued to serve.

Baggs enlisted in the U.S. Army in the height of WWII and deployed to Europe working reconnaissance missions, providing tactical information to the Allied troops. Seeing firsthand the sacrifice of his fellow troops, Baggs kept serving at home after the way, eventually as the National District Commander for the Department of American Veterans.

Now 92 years old, Baggs was named a Celtics Hero Among Us at the ceremony before the Celtics took on the Raptors Friday.

In 1997, the Boston Celtics established the Heroes Among Us program which recognizes "outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lastingcontributions to their communities," a released from the team says.
