WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester Red Sox may be the most competent baseball franchise in Massachusetts these days, and the organization will certainly be in the good graces of Natick residents this spring.

The WooSox and Natick are teaming up for a "Natick Town Takeover" on May 19 at Polar Park.

Pre-game ceremonies will celebrate Natick residents and nonprofits while the town can — hopefully — celebrate a win with post-game fireworks set to Taylor Swift hits.

"We’re excited for an incredible night of baseball,” said Natick Town Administrator, James Errickson.

“Hot dogs, cold drinks, & fireworks. What a great opportunity to celebrate with neighbors and, most importantly, the chance to extend the WooSox experience to residents who might not otherwise be able to attend the ballgame!”

A unique aspect of this year’s event is the addition of the Natick Service Council, a Natick non-profit committed to "supporting Natick neighbors who are experiencing hardship or economic uncertainty," officials said.

In order to dial up the charitable focus of this event, the WooSox and the Town of Natick worked together to unlock a website feature that enables Natick residents to “pay-it-forward.”

When purchasing tickets on the WooSox Natick event page, residents are now able to both purchase tickets and donate tickets to be distributed via the Natick Service Council.

"We enjoy our visits to beautiful Natick," WooSox President Charles Steinberg said.

He continued:

"And we look forward to reciporcating the hospitality to residents of this town. We made 'Spontaneous Visits' with our mascots, attended fundraisers for the MetroWest YWCA, and simply visited the idyllic New England Village Green. It's a charming town, and we look forward to celebrating its great features at Polar Park."

The MBTA is also running a modified train schedule, including a "WooSox-themed" train, #551, which will feature Smiley Ball as a passenger, giving the opportunity for fans to take pictures and get free WooSox collectibles.

The modified train schedule includes:

  • Outbound Train #551, outbound to Worcester, will stop at Natick Center and West Natick
  • Inbound train #536, inbound toward Boston, will be held for a 10:40 p.m. departure, to allow for all to see the post-game fireworks
