5 Things: Volunteering, History, PowerPoint and more!

Five things you need to know today about Needham and Wellesley on July 30, 2013.

1. Weather should be pretty warm, and pretty normal today. A high of 82ºF and a low of 58ºF, and sunny all day, mostly clear overnight according to the National Weather Service

2. Have something to say? Anything at all, you can post it on the blogs. Head to our blogging tab for more information. Contact Bill Gilman, williamg@patch.com for any questions.

3. Want to dazzle with your PowerPoint presentations? Perhaps MassBay Community College can help you out, because at 10:30 a.m. today, they're running a free course on the slideshow software. As seating is limited, contact specialevents@massbay.edu or 781-239-3112 to register or get more info.

4. Beacon Hospice in Needham is looking for area folks to volunteer. They're looking for some folks to do music ministry work, people with pets for a pet therapy program, and some direct patient volunteers. Interested in signing up? Call 508-875-1380 to RSVP for the informational evening tonight at 6:30 p.m., or to ask your questions.

5. Want to learn a bit more about John (and John Quincy) Adams, John Kennedy, and some of the other non-John presidents from the New England area? Waterstone at Wellesley is running a class tonight on the subject. 7:30 p.m. tonight, historian David Kruh is sharing his knowledge on them--little known facts, birthplace stories, all that jazz. Call 781-235-1614 to RSVP
