Break-In, Car Scam: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

July 3

5:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a residence on Ardmore Road for a report of the resident hearing footsteps inside when they returned home. Myself and other officers conducted a check of the residence. Nothing appeared out of order and there was no sign of a break-in.

8:00 p.m. - An officer was en route to a residential alarm call when they encountered a sedan travelling the wrong way on Pine Street. The operator, a 26-year-old Newton man, will be charged with operating with a suspended license, possession of a criminal amount of marijuana, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, operating a motor vehicle in violation of a restricted way, and operating without an inspection sticker.

July 5

5:00 p.m. - An officer initiated a traffic stop on Highland Avenue by Charles Street for a red light violation. The operator, a 39-year-old Dedham man, was issued a summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

6:25 p.m. - An officer responded to a Broadmeadow Road residence for a report of a breaking and entering that had occurred two days earlier. The resident reported someone had used his pool, entered the house and helped themselves to some beverages. No items were taken from the house. The incident remains open.

6:25 p.m. - A Bobsled Drive resident came to the police station to report that he had purchased a car online. The resident hasn’t received the car yet and hasn't been able to a hold of anyone from the dealership. The resident believes that the attempted purchase was a scam.

July 6

8:45 a.m. - An officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration and stopped it on Great Plain Avenue at Central Avenue. The driver, a 25-year-old Dorchester man, had a suspended license. Charges with be sought at Dedham District Court.
