Church Break-In, Hurling Water Bottles: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

June 25

7:15 a.m. - An officer observed a vehicle operating on Highland Avenue and stopped it near the Newton Line. As a result of the stop, a 30-year-old Waltham man was issued a summons for operating with a suspended license.

2:30 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for a right on red violation at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Great Plain Avenue. The operator, a 26-year-old Rhode Island man, was issued a summons for a right on red violation and operating with a suspended license. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

9:00 p.m. - Two juveniles were on the roof of the Memorial Park equipment building throwing full plastic water bottles on to the parking lot missing a police cruiser twice. No damage was caused the cruiser or town property. Both juveniles were released to their parents.

11:45 p.m. - An officer responded to the First Unitarian Church for a reported breaking and entering. Someone had cut a screen and entered the lower level through a small window. This occurred sometime between June 22 and 27. Nothing was taken or damaged inside the church. Detectives investigated and a 16-year-old Needham boy is being charged with two counts of breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a misdemeanor.

A resident of Marshall Street reported that someone had stolen her identity and used it to open a PayPal account. She reported this to the FTC and they are investigating.

June 28

3:15 p.m. - An officer took a walk-in report from a High Rock Street resident regarding a past larceny from 2002 that was recently brought to his attention. The matter is under investigation.

4:30 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Lincoln Street business for the report of a larceny of money. The matter remains under investigation.

6:00 p.m. - An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in the Needham Heights area. While speaking to the operator the Officer noticed that he and his vehicle matched an alert put out by Wellesley Police for a hit and run accident that had occurred in their town. This information was forwarded to Wellesley Police.
