Duffy Steps Down As Needham HS Football Coach
Dave Duffy leaves the team after nearly two decades as a coach.

NEEDHAM, MA — A familiar face will be absent from the sideline of the Needham High School football team this fall.
The school announced Thursday that Dave Duffy has stepped down as the head coach of the program. He has been at the helm of the program for the past 19 years.
"We’d like to thank Coach Duffy for everything he has done for the program, the school and the Needham community over the last 3 decades as a player, and as Head Coach for the last 20 years," the Needham High School Athletics Department tweeted.

Per the Boston Herald, Duffy went 132-82-0 and had winning seasons in nine of the past 10 years. The Rockets made a run to the Division 1 Eastern Mass. Super Bowl in the old football postseason format in 2011, where they lost to BC High
Replacing Duffy on an interim basis will be Doug Kopcso, who has been on the coaching staff for 15 seasons and has severed as the defensive coordinator since 2010. He's also a former team captain for the Rockets.
