Embezzlement, Shoplifting: Needham Police Log

May 17
A Wilshire Park residence reported she was a victim of identity theft after receiving a call from a collection agency on an account she never had.
3:25 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to Bank of America on Highland Avenue on a reported attempted wire scam. They were able to stop the victim prior to sending the wire.

May 18
9:30 a.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop on a gray Nissan in front of a 2nd Avenue address for a red light violation. The operator, a 23-year-old Needham, did not have a valid driver's license and was issued a summons for the motor vehicle violations.

May 19
11:45 a.m. - An officer stopped a car on Central Avenue with an expired registration sticker. An RMV check of the vehicle revealed that the registered owner's drivers license was suspended. The operator, a 44-year-old Wellesley man, was cited for operating with a suspended license and a number plate violation.
6:00 p.m. - A Highland Avenue business owner came to the police station to report that his bookkeeper has been stealing funds since Jan. 12, 2016. Charges for larceny by embezzlement to be sought against two former employees.
8:10 p.m. - An officer responded to a Great Plain Avenue business for a report of a counterfeit bill that was passed. The incident is under investigation.
8:30 p.m. - A Needham resident came to the police station to turn himself in as he had an outstanding probation warrant. The person, 32-year-old Conor Smith, was booked and then brought to Norfolk County Jail in Dedham to await his court appearance.
11:45 p.m. - An officer encountered a stolen motor vehicle at a Highland Avenue address. A locate was entered on the vehicle which was towed by a neighboring agency. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Wellesley.
May 20
12:25 a.m. - An officer responded to a Highland Avenue address for a report of shoplifting. During the course of the investigation, the suspect returned to the address. Kiryl Ruselik, 26, of Bedford, was subsequently arrested for shoplifting, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
