Updated: Hemlock Gorge Spring Cleanup Set for This Saturday
Volunteers looking to help out should meet at Hamilton Place between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Updated: The spring cleanup at Hemlock Gorge and the Charles River has been postponed to Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon, due to the lockdown situation.

'Tis the season for spring cleaning, and it's time for a little sprucing up at Hemlock Gorge.

The annual spring cleanup at Hemlock Gorge will take place this Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Volunteers who are interested in helping with the cleanup should meet at Hamilton Place between 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Newton Alderman Brian Yates will be on hand to give out gloves, trash bags and t-shirts.

Located on the Newton Upper Falls/Needham line, Hemlock Gorge is a 23-acre reservation along the Charles River. It is managed by the Massachusetts Dept. of Conservation and Recreation while the Friends of Hemlock Gorge work to preserve and improve the reservation.
Parking for the Hemlock Gorge cleanup will be available at Hamilton Place, the Mills Falls parking lot and at the Hemlock Gorge parking lot at the corner of Ellis Street and Route 9.
Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
After Saturday's cleanup, Yates will lead the Friends, city officials and DCR representatives in dedicating the new windows at Hemlock Gorge's stone building.

Saturday's Hemlock Gorge spring cleanup coincides with the Charles River Watershed Association's 14th Annual Charles River Earth Day Cleanup, which will take place along the river from 9 a.m. - noon. Following the Earth Day cleanup, volunteers are welcome to Boston's Esplanade for a speaking program.
