House Fire, Fake Rug Cleanup Men: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

July 30

2:20 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Rivard Road address for a reported possible fraud. It was an attempted fraud discovered and stopped by Bank of America.

5:45 p.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop on Greendale Ave for a expired inspection sticker. As a result of the traffic stop a 29-year-old Newton woman was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and having an expired inspection sticker.

9:30 p.m. - A worker at a Highland Avenue assisted living center lost her wallet, credit cards and iPhone. She notified her bank and phone provider.

July 31

7:40 p.m. - An officer responded to a Highland Terrace address for a report of smoke and fire in the residence. The resident stated that there was no one else in the home. Needham Fire Department arrived on scene and was able to contain and extinguish the fire.

8:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a Linden Street address on report of a disturbance involving two men. Both men involved in the altercation refused to answer police questions or cooperate with the investigation. There was one man who witnessed the altercation, but he also refused to cooperate with the investigation. No charges will be filed at this time.

August 1

10:30 a.m. - A resident of Linden Street reported that he left his bike overnight at a bike rack in Needham Square. When he returned to get it the next day, it was missing.

10:30 a.m. - Needham Police received a call from a bank in Kansas. They reported that one of their customers had their identity stolen and the person who stole the identity had ordered a package to be delivered to an address in Needham. Once they realized the order was fraudulent, the delivery was canceled.

10:30 a.m. - A resident of Nehoiden Street reported two suspicious men representing a local rug cleaning company had come to the house to pick up a rug. She later realized they were not representing that company. They left without the rug.
