Needham HS Principal Resigns After Apparent Investigation

Jonathan Pizzi had been placed on administrative leave last Wednesday.

Jonathan Pizzi, the principal of Needham High School, resigned Saturday morning after he became the subject of an investigation of his workplace conduct, the school department said in a post on its website.

Pizzi, who had been principal since 2009, had been placed on administrative leave last Wednesday, according to the statement by Superintendent Daniel E. Gutekanst.

Gutekanst did not provide details of the investigation, but said no students were involved.

“At this time, on the advice of legal counsel, this remains a confidential personnel matter and we will not have further immediate factual comment,” the statement said.

Jonathan Bourn, NHS assistant principal, will serve as acting-principal, likely for the remainder of the the 2014 - 2015 academic year.
