Needham Police Log: Cashed Check, Wobbly Walker and More

Friday, June 28
- A business owner on Hillside Avenue reported that one of his employees had been stealing from the company and his personal account. At about 1 p.m., Needham detectives took on the case, and are investigating.
- Hit-and-run crash reported at the Great Plain Avenue CVS, as a May Street resident told police that she had been shopping before 1 p.m., and returned to her vehicle to find a note on the windshield. According to the note, her car had been hit by another vehicle which fled the scene. Police were able to identify the other vehicle and filed a report.
- Before 2 p.m., Needham Middlesex Savings Bank reported a fraudulent check had been cashed on Wednesday. The incident is under investigation.
- A Wayland man told Needham police that he had been scammed out of $200 at about 3:15 p.m.
- 11:30 p.m., police were brought to Harris Avenue for a report of an unsteady, tall white man walking down the street, possibly intoxicated. Police circled the area and spotted a man matching the description on Dedham Avenue. He was taken into protective custody, driven to his mother's house, and released into her custody.
- Shoplifting reported at Trader Joe's on Highland Avenue, 3:45 p.m. A 56-year-old Needham woman will be charged with shoplifting under $15 worth of merchandise.
- Police arrested and charged Akasha Longon, 34, of Murphy Road with assault-and-battery domestic at about 9:45 p.m.
