Needham Police Log: Wrong Registration, Package Switch and More

Tuesday, July 23
- Police performed a records check of a vehicle on a car parked on Great Plain Avenue near Linden Street at around 9:15 a.m. The registered owner had a warrant for his arrest from Plymouth District Court. Police arrested and charged 43-year-old Taunton Man, Craig McDonald on that warrant.
- At about 7 p.m., police saw a vehicle without an inspection sticker driving along High Rock Street, near Emerson Road. Police pulled the vehicle, a Pontiac Montana over, and learned that the registration was for a Nissan Quest. The owner, a Needham woman, 42, was summonsed to Dedham District Court for attaching plates, driving without an inspection sticker, and driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.
- A Chestnut Street Dunkin Donuts was reportedly broken into sometime overnight. Police are investigating the incident, and took a report at 5:30 a.m.
- Before 9 a.m., police were sent to a reported hit-and-run crash on Gould Street. One driver gave registration information for the other to police, who contacted the second driver by phone. The two exchanged information and were advised to contact their insurance companies.
- A Rosemary Street home reportedly had a small rock thrown through a sliding glass door. No entry was made, according to the 11:45 a.m. report, just broken glass.
- Before 1 p.m., a cyclist crashed into a vehicle--according to a police report--the cyclist was uninjured, and there was no damage to the vehicle. Everyone involved was satisfied with the outcome and went about their business.
- Police responded to Restaurant Depot for a shoplifting report, before 6 p.m. The manager reported that he saw a man remove a product from its packaging, and place that product inside the container of a less expensive one. The store is not interested in pressing charges, but the suspect was ordered not to return to the business.
