Needham Resident Elected to BBA Council

Thomas Bean has been elected to the council of the Boston Bar Association.

NEEDHAM, MA - Thomas Bean, a Needham resident and partner at Verrill Dana, LLP in Boston, has been elected to the council of the Boston Bar Association.

Tom is a partner at Verrill Dana, LLP, where he represents businesses in complex disputes and insolvency matters. At the BBA, he has served on the Public Service Oversight Committee and as Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy Law Section. He also was a member of the Litigation Section and the John & Abigail Adams Benefit Steering Committees, and he is a member of the BBF Society of Fellows. In 2005, the Supreme Judicial Court appointed Tom to a five-year term on the Client Security Board. In 2011, the SJC appointed him to investigate and, if appropriate, prosecute alleged wrongdoing by a clerk magistrate. Tom served for five years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Government Bureau of the Attorney General’s Office. He has been selected multiple times for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. In 2012, he co-founded Spark Academy, a public middle school in Lawrence that integrates academics and athletics in a pioneering program. In 2016, he received an “Excellence in the Law” award from Mass Lawyers Weekly for his pro bono contributions.

Tom is a graduate of the Washington University in St. Louis, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and the University of Michigan Law School.
