Barbara (Krouner) Popper, 70, of Needham, died Nov. 3, 2013, following a battle with lung cancer.
She was wife of Steven Popper.
In 1971, Barbara founded Children in Hospitals, a non profit organization that advocated for the rights of parents with hospitalized children. She continued this work as a project director for the Federation for Children with Special Needs.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Jeffrey Popper of Medfield, Nancy Popper of Cambridge, Lee Popper of Needham and Sarah Popper of Arlington; her grandchildren Milo, Harry, William, Isaac, Brandon, Jasper, Anna, Sofia and Leo; and her siblings Betsy Krouner of New York, N.Y. and Susan Sclafani of Washington, DC.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Federation for Children with Special Needs, 529 Main Street, Suite 1M3, Boston, MA 02129.
