Eunice W. Blanchard, 89, of Bennington, N.H., formerly of Needham, died in Peterborough, N.H. Oct. 28, 2013.
She was born in Needham Sept. 30, 1924, the daughter of G. Gordon Watt and Elizabeth (Eddy) Watt.
Eunice married Robert L. Blanchard Jan. 20th, 1945 who preceded her in death in 1987. They moved to New Durham, N.H. then to Antrim, N.H. and then in 1952 she and Robert moved to Bennington, N.H. to start a family and build their farm.
Eunice worked in Bennington as a dairy farmer for 30 years while raising her four children. She also ran the kitchen at the Crotched Mountain Ski Area. Eunice worked at Camp Winamac many years in Bennington and at Plants Alive in Bennington. Eunice was a member of the 4H Club, the Eastern Star and was a library trustee at GEP Dodge Library in Bennington. Eunice attended The Bennington Congregational Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for much of her life. Eunice loved her time gardening, sewing, cooking, crafting, teaching, reading and spending summers at her cottage built by her and her family in Christmas Cove, Maine.
Eunice is survived by her children Robert A. Blanchard and his wife Mary of Bristol, Maine, David L. Blanchard and his wife Linda of Bennington and Elizabeth Dillinger and her husband Chuck of Ajax, Canada; her eight grand children; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother Douglas Watt of South Bristol, Maine and Pasadena, Calif. She is preceded in death by her son George Blanchard her sister Jean Watt of South Bristol and brother Robert Watt of Sarasota, Fla.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord St., Peterborough, N.H. Burial will take place at the West Bristol Cemetery in South Bristol, Maine.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Eunice’s name to the Bennington GEP Library, 2 Main St Bennington, NH 03442, or to the Bennington Fire Rescue Association, 7 School Street – Unit 103, Bennington NH 03442.
