
James L. Galvin Jr., 89, of Needham, died Oct. 26, 2013.
He was husband of the late Eleanor M. (McGauley) Galvin.
Jim was a retired manufacturer's representative. He was a graduate of BC High School, Class of 1942 and Boston College, Class of 1949. Jim was past president of the Newton Kiwanis Club, member of the Needham Knights of Columbus, #1611, long time Parishoner and Usher at St. Bartholomew Church, WWII Army Veteran.
He leaves his son James L. "Jay" Galvin III and his wife Marianne "Jill" of Westwood; his grandchildren Jacqueline Medeiros and her husband Jared of Bristol, R.I., Brittany Galvin of New York and James L. Galvin IV of Westwood; and his nephew Gregory McGauley and his wife Patti and family of Newton and Walter McGauley and his wife Nora and family of Newton.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Bartholomew Church, Needham at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday, Oct. 30, 4 to 8 p.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham.
