St. Joseph Elementary School Adds New Assistant Principal

St. Joseph Elementary School, located in Needham is pleased to announce the addition of Mrs. Lauren Solomon to its leadership team. Mrs. Solomon joined St. Joe’s for the 2015-2016 school year as Assistant Principal. Her responsibilities will include implementing a formal mentoring program for new teachers as well as leading the staff as the Assessment Coordinator for the new testing program in Catholic Schools this year, MAP.

“We feel blessed to have Mrs. Solomon join us at St. Joseph Elementary School this year,” said Charlotte Kelly, principal of St. Joseph Elementary School. “With 12 years of educational experience, Mrs. Solomon will bring great leadership, knowledge, and mentorship to our school.”

Mrs. Solomon’s journey into Catholic schools began when she attended Mt. Alvernia Academy and later graduated Salve Regina University where she received her B.S. in Elementary and Special Education. She later attended Cambridge College to earn a M.Ed. for School Guidance Counseling and a post-masters certificate.

Mrs. Solomon spent her first year in education at Sharon public schools, but followed her passion for Catholic education and spent the following eight years at St. John the Evangelist in Canton as the middle school ELA teacher and guidance counselor. Following her time at St. John’s, she taught fifth grade at the Jackson School in Newton. Mrs. Solomon currently resides in Millis with her husband and two young children.

“Although I have been immersed in this school for only a few weeks now, I am still amazed daily. The dedication of the teachers is commendable, the programs, and curriculum are top-notch and the community as a whole is unbelievably welcoming and kind,” said Mrs. Solomon. “I knew St. Joe’s had a great reputation, but St. Joe’s has exceeded my expectations!”
