A Threatening Letter, 2nd OUI: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

June 6

9:30 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to a parking lot on East Militia Heights for the report of a past hit and run resulting in property damage to a vehicle.

6:10 p.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop on Burr Drive by South Street for speeding. The operator a 33-year-old man from Boston, was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle without a license.

7:00 p.m. - A Lantern Lane resident at the police station that they received a threatening letter from an anonymous author. The letter demanded payment in order to keep quiet about past indiscretions by the recipient of the letter. There was no basis for the threats and no payment was made.

9:04 p.m. - An officer responded to the area of Hasenfus Circle for a report of a person and a dog who were bit by a loose dog. Was able to make contact with the owner of the loose dog. Animal Control will be following up with the owner.

9:15 p.m. - Officers responded to a Second Avenue apartment for a report of a past break-in. The matter is currently under investigation.


June 7

6:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a Lexington Street for a report of suspicious text messages from an unknown number. Upon further investigation it appears the texts were innocent in nature but were worded awkwardly and from an unknown number.

9:00 p.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop on Great Plain Avenue at the intersection of Ridgeway Avenue As a result of an investigation, the passenger was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center - Needham for an adverse reaction to edible marijuana/THC candy.

June 8

2:00 a.m. - An officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked near the Needham Dog Park. The occupants were warned they were trespassing and sent on their way.

June 9

8:30 a.m. - An officer responded to a Richardson Drive residence on a past larceny. The resident stated that on June 5, he had two packages from Amazon delivered to his house. The packages were stolen from his front stoop while the resident wasn't home.

June 10

1:30 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Highland Avenue address to take a report of a dog bite. The reporting party sustained minor injuries, the matter has been forwarded to animal control for further follow up.

8:40 p.m. - Officers responded to a Greendale Avenue address for the report of a single-car crash. After further investigation, the operator, 32-year-old Kevin Luch of Needham, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and operating under the influence of liquor (second offense).
