Town Meeting Backs DPW Storage Facility, Pedestrian Safety Audit

NEEDHAM, MA — Night three of Town Meeting included a Special Town Meeting Warrant.
Representatives backed a proposed $7.6 million DPW equipment storage facility on the RTS property, according to a report from the meeting. Half the funding is from one-time funds and the other half will be borrowed.
Town Meeting also approved $100,000 for a pedestrian safety audit which will help the town determine the best way to improve safety around town. The vote came months after a car crash which killed two Needham High School students just outside the school.

Other approved articles include 431,000 for the high school expansion project, two modular classrooms at the Mitchell School, and $100,000 for new trash cans.
