Truck vs. Light Pole, Hit And Run: Needham Police Log

August 20
9:45 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle on 4th Avenue for speeding. Twenty-year old Gabriel DeSouza of Milford was arrested on a straight warrant for operating after suspension and speeding from Milford District Court. He was issued a summons operating after suspension, speeding and an inspection sticker violation.

11:30 a.m. - An officer responded to the intersection of Highland Avenue and West Street for a report of a tractor trailer that had struck a traffic light pole and left the scene. The operator of the truck, a 22-year-old Missouri man, was located a short time later. He was cited for failure to use care while turning and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
2:20 p.m. - An officer was performing selective enforcement in Needham Square. As a result of a traffic stop, a 53-year-old Somerville man was issued a summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

August 22
2:10 p.m. - A Greendale Avenue business stated they had lost a piece of equipment. The matter is under investigation.
9:00 p.m.- An officer was dispatched to Avery Square for a report of a property damage two-car crash. One of the involved motor vehicles operators had a suspended license. A 35-year-old man from Dorchester was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
9:20 p.m. - An officer responded to a 2nd Avenue residence for a report of a past motor vehicle hit and run with property damage. A parked vehicle was hit by another vehicle. A suspect vehicle has been identified and the matter is under investigation.
