1 Dead After Fire In Newton: Reports

NEWTON, MA — A man is dead after a fire Sunday morning in Newton, according to reports.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. at a duplex in the 1200 block of Walnut Street, WCVB reported.

An off-duty firefighter driving on Route 9 was the first to call in the blaze, according to NBC 10 Boston, which reported all the other occupants of the home were able to safely escape.

The cause is under investigation, reports said.
