Speech writing and delivery, kids concert, canceled meeting and more

1. ESL tutors are needed provide free tutoring through the Newton Free Library. If you're interested in becoming a tutor, there's an informational session Thursday at 10 a.m.
2. Scott Kepnes will be at Ware's Cove in Auburndale today at noon for a free kids concert. Here's more about the artist.
3. The Community Preservation Committee will convene Thursday at 7 p.m. in a regularly scheduled meeting. Topics on the agenda a public hearing related to final plans and construction funding for the Jackson Homestead and Museum.
4. The Newton Upper Falls Historic Commission will NOT meet for their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday.
5. There's a speech writing and public speaking course, "Giving A Speech: Wedding Toasts & Eulogies," that begins tonight at Newton North High School. The Newton Community Eduction course includes three sessions and is taught by Navy veteran Ron Bielicki. More info and registration is available on the NCE website.
