German-based Shoemaker Launches Newest Location In Newton
The business now has two spots in the Boston area.

NEWTON, MA — An international footwear retailer has launched its newest location in Chestnut Hill just in time for the holiday season.
Birkenstock’s newest spot launched on 27 Boylston St. as the newest tenant in the 90,000 square foot, three-story space earlier this week. The shop specializes in a wide variety of footwear for men, women, and children including clogs, sandals, sneakers, boots, and socks. In addition, it offers foot and body care lotions. The store’s interior decor includes classic shoemaking materials such as cork, felt, and leather.
The company has two Boston-area locations, with its Newbury Street edition opening in November 2024.

“Chestnut Hill is a natural next step for us in the Boston area,” Birkenstock President and Managing Director David Kahan said in a statement. “This new space allows us to bring Birkenstock to both our loyal fans and those just discovering the brand, furthering our connection to an area that has embraced us for generations.”
According to the company, its origins can be traced back to 18th century German shoemakers. The first stand-alone American store opened in Soho, New York in 2018. The company’s products were previously available through third-party retailers. Since then, the business has expanded with locations in New York, Texas, California, Illinois, Tennessee, and Massachusetts.
