5 Things You Need to Know: July 9

Tree removal discussion, teen resources at the library, Wellcoin Month and more.

1. The Planning and Development Committee will continue a public hearing related to the removal of some trees along Grove Street in order to widen the road in conjunction with the Riverside Development project. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in room 222 at Newton City Hall.

2. Ramadan begins Tuesday. Here's a look at Ramadan services and events near Newton throughout the month as well as some additional information.

3. The mayor and the founder of Wellcoin will be at Gath Pool Tuesday at 4 p.m. to talk about the online health currency program, for which Newton serves as a model city, and sign up interested individuals.

4. Tuesday is the last day to purchase tickets for the July 16 Dinner on the Farm event at Newton Community Farm.

5. The first meeting of the Teen Library Think Tank will take place Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Newton Free Library. The group is designed to be a place where teens can discuss and suggest the programs, events and resources they would like to see at the library.
