Police said a 6-year-old boy was struck by a pick-up truck today just after 3 p.m. while crossing the street in the area of 288 Auburndale Avenue.

The boy, who was with his 10-year-old sister and grandparents, was transported to and never lost consciousness, police said. His mother accompanied him to the hospital, where police said he seemed to be ok while undergoing some routine tests.

According to police, the boy was at the bottom of a driveway that had snow banks on either side. The boy said it seemed like it was safe to cross when the truck, which had a plow attachment, struck him.

The driver was a 65-year-old male from Newton, police said. The accident is still under investigation and no official charges have been filed.
