Five Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 28

A 5K race, a free concert and a discussion on the 'Death with Dignity' Act.

1. Bill's 5K. The Seventh Annual Bill's Pizzeria 5K will take place today starting at 9 a.m. The race, which kicks off at Mason-Rice Elementary School, benefits the Travis Roy Foundation. Runners are encouraged to come in costume, bring the family and take advantage of the numerous activities for kids, including the Spooky Sprint and Catz Kids Challenge. Immediately after the race, there will be live music, free pizza and the awards ceremony at Bill’s Pizzeria.

2. Discussion on "Death with Dignity" Act. Local attorney Denise Chicoine will lead a discussion on the topic today at 11:30 a.m. at the United Parish of Auburndale. The Death with Dignity" Act will be question No. 2 on the Massachusetts Nov. 6 ballot.

3. Free concert. Guitarist John Muratore and accordionist Roberto Cassan will perform this afternoon at the Newton Free Library. The free concert, which starts at 2 p.m., will include newly arranged works from Spain and Latin-America.

5. Young Artist Winner concert. Walden Chamber Players will perform a concert of music for strings and winds in Wilson Chapel at the Andover-Newton Theological School today. The concert will feature bassoonist Jake Thonis, the winner of the 2012 Walden Chamber Players Young Artist Competition, in the Devienne Quartet in C Major for bassoon and strings. The concert starts at 4 p.m. and tickets are $15.
