Head Of JCC Greater Boston In Newton To Step Down After 21 Years
President and CEO of the JCC Greater Boston announced he is retiring.

NEWTON, MA — The man who has led the JCC Greater Boston in Newton for the past 21 years has announced he will be stepping down next year.
President and CEO of JCC Greater Boston Rabbi Mark Sokoll announced his retirement on Wednesday night at JCC’s annual gala.
The organization described Sokoll as a respected leader in the Jewish community for more than three decades. Under his eye, the community center has become a nationally recognized model of family engagement, it pulled in a $20 million capital campaign at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton, and experienced historic growth.

"In July of 2021, I will conclude the privilege of leading this special organization for 21 years as your CEO/President," said Sokoll in a statement. "Your friendship, and partnership continue to be immeasurable gifts to our JCC, and to me."
In an effort to honor staff he also announced he is launching JCC Fund for the Future, which he described as an embodiment of the legacy he hopes to leave for the future of the JCC.

The fund will be used to invest in the professional growth and development of the staff who teach, mentor and support tens of thousands of families in camps, preschools, fitness, adult wellness and family engagement programs every year.
"These incredible professionals continue to be the best assurance we all have for a vibrant future for this JCC and our community," he said.
