Minute Clinic Opens At Newton-Watertown Line

The clinic at the pharmacy on Watertown Street is staffed by nurse practitioners.

If you need to get a medical checkup in a jiffy, consider heading over to the CVS on Watertown Street to visit the recently opened Minute Clinic.

The facility is staffed by nurse practitioners, who can give you a look over and even prescribe medications, said Erin Buckley, the manger of the Watertown Street location and seven others in the area.

"It's pretty much a walk in health clinic," Buckley said.

Located at the back of the CVS (which is located near the Newton line), patients can sign in at a computer outside the clinic to see one of the nurses.

"They can do a full exam and, if needed, a prescription can be written," Buckley said.

Many people who use the clinic are parents with a child not feeling good after school.

"If they have a sore throat and you can't get in with your physician, you can come here," Buckley said, adding that they see anyone over 24 months of age.

The clinic is also be cheaper than heading to an emergency room or urgent care facility, Buckley said.

"If you have a co-pay, and it is $20 for primary care, it is the same here," Buckley said.

Those without insurance can also go to the clinic. Prices vary, Buckley said, but they start at $79.

Along with medical exams, the clinic also provides flu shots, tuberculosis testing and immunizations, she added.

The Minute Clinic is open seven days a week, and most holidays, Buckley said.

The hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
