Newton Assistant Coach Heads to Needham High

Amanda Sheehy is headed to Needham High School to assume head coaching responsibilities for the varsity girls' basketball team.

According to an announcement from the Needham High School Athletics Department, Sheehy currently works in the Newton Public School system as a behavior therapist, and hails from New Jersey. She accepted a scholarship at Assumption College in Worcester for basketball and earned a history degree with a minor in elementary education. 

For the last two years, she has been the assistant varsity coach for the Newton North High School team and has coached at the Mass Huskies AAU program and MetroWest in Wellesley.

Says the announcement, "Coach Sheehy is eager to get started in her new role and looks forward to meeting all of the returning players, along with their families, in the coming weeks."
