Newton Community Education Cancels Sports Camps, Goes Online Only

The self-sustaining arm of the Newton Public Schools that is Newton Community Education is transitioning this summer to online courses.

NEWTON, MA — With schools closed at least until the fall, the self-sustaining arm of the Newton Public Schools that is Newton Community Education has had to adjust, too.

Newton Community Education, which has a mission of facilitating lifelong learning usually offers programs for everyone from toddlers to seniors across Newton to take part in. When the school day ends, their classes begin, when the summer starts, they use school facilities for community learning and sports.

But this summer is different. The sports camps that hundreds of Newton children have come to attend through NCE regularly are canceled this summer, and the group is in the process of issuing refunds.
