Newton Family Stranded In Caribbean Country Due To FAA Shutdown: Report
The shutdown has interrupted thousands of flights in the Caribbean region.
NEWTON, MA — A Newton family is currently stranded in Aruba due to Federal Aviation Administration airspace shutdowns in the Caribbean, according to a report from NBC 10 Boston.
Elizabeth Drori and her family, consisting of her husband and two children, were vacationing at the island country but cannot currently fly home. The shutdown began this past Saturday following the United States Military's capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Drori said one risk her family and others who this shutdown has impacted is a lack of access to things like prescription medication.
Major airlines such as JetBlue and Delta have added extra flights in an attempt to remedy the situation that has affected thousands of people, however many remain in similar predicaments to that of Drori and her family.
