Newton Has 3 Of The 25 Wealthiest Zip Codes In Massachusetts

NEWTON, MA — Newton has three of the wealthiest zip codes in Massachusetts, according to a Boston Business Journal review of U.S. Census Bureau data.

The list ranks the state’s zip codes with the highest estimated household median incomes, many of which come from cities and towns in the suburbs to the West of Boston.

Newton, Wellesley, Dover, Sherborn, Weston, Carlisle, Sudbury, Wayland, and Lexington are all at the top of the rankings. Other top zip codes include Boston, Boxford, Harvard, Newbury, and Hopkinton.

A few of these places have two zip codes on the list, but Newton is the only one with three.

The list is based on Census data for ZIP code tabulation areas for the year 2020, the most recent available, and excludes areas with fewer than 100 households. According to Boston Business Journal, the figures are estimates based on a sampling of households in those communities.
