2 Newton Nonprofits Receive Funds From New Balance Foundation

NEWTON, MA — Two local nonprofits have been named recipients of a statewide grant initiative from New Balance.

The athletic apparel company’s foundation issued $9.2 million in grants to more than 50 nonprofit organizations throughout the state. The Newton recipients include the Alzheimer's Association and Cradles to Crayons.

The Alzheimer’s Association is headquartered at 320 Nevada St. and advocates for awareness of the disease through providing care consultations, support groups, and educational programs.The Newton branch of Cradles to Crayons is located at 281 Newtonville Ave., and it works to combat clothing insecurity among children. According to the organization, approximately 20 million children are not adequately clothed.

Since 1981, the New Balance Foundation has invested more than $90 million in local nonprofits serving Metro Boston.
