NEWTON, MA — A fire broke out on Derby Street Saturday morning. The blaze happened at a home near the corner of Perishing Road and firefighters from surrounding communities were called to the scene to help fight the flames.
Derby Street is completely blocked off, avoid the area.
No word yet on injuries, but one Patch reader reported he saw more than a dozen emergency vehicles at 11:45 a.m., including a Boston Fire truck.

At that time it looked like at least three people were standing outside of the home draped in blankets talking to officials. Firefighters were working on top of the roof. Windows appeared broken and there were multiple holes in the roof where firefighters had worked to put out the flames.
