Newton Nomadic Theater Hosts Secret Drive-In Concert
Newton Nomadic Theater used pickup trucks as a stage for the band that performed for concertgoers in the old Marshall's parking lot.

NEWTON, MA — More than 100 cars showed up for a secret drive-in concert, that the Newton Nomadic Theater coordinated along with Newton Community Pride. Using pickup trucks as a stage, the theater turned the old Marshall's parking lot into a concert arena this weekend.
If that wasn't enough, the location for the drive-up concert was top secret until the day of the event. All would-be concert-goers knew was that they were getting tickets to see Couch, a four piece jazz/pop/funk/fun band, perform from the back of four carefully spaced pickup trucks in a parking lot somewhere in Newton.
But the cost of the tickets was free, thanks to Newton Community Pride, which offered to pay for the event. Hours before the event, the sold out crowd of concert-goers were alerted to park in every other space in the lot and stay in the car, tuning the FM dial to 91.3, Nomad Radio, while they watched Couch rock from the safety of their cars.

"The Secret Drive-In Concert was a blast. Couch the Band were fabulous, the weather was perfect, the Nomad Radio show was a treat, and even our dancing parking lot attendants added to the night," Newton Nomadic Theater's Jerry Rielly posted to Facebook after the event.
